Seasons Greetings a la Peppermint!
Our local stores are already offering Christmas decor, moving non-seasonal items to give up shelf space to holiday offerings, and reminding us that as soon as Halloween passes, they’re expecting everyone to decorate for Christmas! Okay … I gave in just a little bit. A bit of red ribbon, a couple of holiday candles, and the “rationale” that I can use those in my early stamping! (Sly, eh?) In reality, I’m not one to decorate for weeks in advance. But I do stamp ahead of some holidays.
As I browsed through the 6 border designs and 6 center designs in my new JustRite Harmony Christmas Stamp Ensemble (3 & 1/4″), I knew just what I wanted to do with this candy cane border. I already have a candy cane twist candle, and after today’s ribbon purchase, it seemed to come together easily. The images and borders fit easily within the Spellbinders Nestabilities circles too … a great advantage in my opinion. I played with dye inks and pigment inks, opting for pigment inks … because I could then emboss the image and border with Iridescent Ice embossing powder. (Perhaps I’ll capture that shimmer better in a daylight picture during the day on Sunday.) Of course, advise any recipient of such a gift that the ribbon & stamped greeting should be removed when the candle is lit. For me, I find it very hard to light pretty candles. They seem to stay with me for a while before I’m willing to light them and “use” them! (Sort of like our paper stash or ribbon stash, I suppose. Yes … I do that!)
