RN Thinking of You Kiwi 415×515

That’s right!  It’s time for Wednesday’s Bloggers’ Challenge!  But,you really do not have to have a blog to participate.  If you have an online gallery, you can still post your creations to the challenge, so c’mon along & play!  Today’s challenge is brought to us by the one & only ‘papermoon04‘, a.k.a. Shelly Kuck.    Shelly has challenged us to create something for Christmas, using ‘non-traditional’ colors!  As soon as I read her challenge, I felt that it would be a hit.  I’m so ready to branch out from red’s & greens, and move on  to refreshing color territory!  So naturally, I made sure to check out today’s color challenge (CC197) at SCS.   That’s where I found the perfect inspiration for today’s bloggers’ non-traditional challenge.  The colors include Baja Breeze, Basic Gray, Kiwi Kiss, and (optional) Not Quite Navy.   As it turns out, SU’s Urban Garden designer papers include all of these colors, and my stash was just waiting to be loved!

RN Thinking of You Kiwi shimmerycloseup 375×301The Kiwi Kiss layer was dry embossed with a cuttlebug folder, then turned into a shimmery layer by mixing water with ‘Perfect Pearls’ (pearl color) in a Ranger Mini Mister.  The cool thing about Perfect Pearls powder is that the binding agents are already included!  Tex’s Tip:  There’s no need to include rubbing alcohol or hairspray to enable the shimmer to bind to the paper … water is all you need!  Fill the mini-mister up to about 2/3 full, add approximately 1/8 tsp. Perfect Pearls powder, shake to mix completely, and spray!  Voila!  Shimmery results are easy.  If you wish, you can also add a few drops of Distress Reinkers to the mix of Perfect Pearls + water for a custom-colored shimmer.

The large sentiment was stamped, then die-cut with Spellbinders’ Nestabilities to compliment the colors of the designer paper.  A double-bow of Kiwi satin ribbon seemed to be the perfect way to fill the small gap in the circle of shimmery white paper.  I hope you’ll explore the non-traditional color options in your seasonal stamping.  Personally, I find it to be a welcome & refreshing difference .. perfect to spur on some mojo!

Please feel welcome to create your own non-traditionally colored Rubbernecker Christmas project, and share the link with us here, and/or at the Rubbernecker Blog!  We would love to show off your creations!   Thanks so much for visiting ‘Savor the Journey’ today.    (((hugs)))

That is such a wonderful card. I love the bow (so I have to discover how you made it) and I like the way you used the DP. I have lots of scraps that I would like to use up and this is one good idea to do that.
