Welcome Weekend!!!   And welcome to Beate’s weekend sketch, WSC98!

I’ll admit that I don’t always stamp on the weekends, simply due to the way my life seems to ‘flow’ around the days of the week.  But I was determined to participate in my sweet friend’s challenge, so I made sure I participated this time.   The rest of my weekend?  Well, we’re packing 3 birthdays into this one weekend … … Yikes!  My DDIL has her b’day today (Saturday), and my DD and her 2nd son share Sunday as a birthday!  Whoa!!

On to ‘reality’ …. I knew I loved Beate’s sketch as soon as I saw it.  So, here’s my version!  Basically, I planned my scene, then stamped & embossed the tree & flying witch first.  Then came the ‘masking’.  My favorite tool for masking is always ‘Eclipse’ tape.  This time, I punched the circle for the ‘moon’ from the Eclipse tape, and used both the circle and the ‘negative’ circle as I sponged with the Inkssentials applicators.  I thought it might be difficult to match the purple colors of the dsp, but actually, just combining 2 Distress Inks (Milled Lavendar + Weathered Wood) solved the problem with no fuss!  I love the way those inks “blend” without becoming “muddy”!  Additional touches are the embossed sentiment, tree, and flying witch.  These were all stamped with Versamark ink, then embossed with ‘Stampendous’ Midnight Black embossing powder.

And that cool shape for the sentiment?  That’s from one of my favorite tools, my ‘Slice’!  Not being a ‘scrapper’, I have never felt the need for a ‘Cricut’.  However, the ‘Slice’ seems to be just the sweet ‘in-between’ tool for those of use who love card-making … yet rarely venture into ‘scrapping’.  Yay!

Check out the weekend sketch challenge if you have some stampin’ time!  It’s a sweet sketch for sure!  I so appreciate your visit today … Thanks a Bunch, and have a blessed weekend!!
