Sympathy in Blue
Welcome to the sweet new week ahead of us, my friends! I’m back from a wonderful weekend, complete with a “trip back to the Oldies” with great friends. I know … even my DD said, “Mom, I don’t know who they are.” Ohhhh, what a shame… What an era to have missed in music! LOL We were tickled to see Davy Jones (from the Monkees), followed by Peter Noone (‘Herman’ of Herman’s Hermits)! We sang, had terrific seats, and even more. Alas, it seems our pictures are currently in never-neverland. If the photo troubles get resolved, I’ll hope to share later in the week. Keeping my fingers crossed … we’ll see. 😉
Back in the ‘real world’, I’ve learned that a sympathy card is needed. My talented friend, Francie Gumprecht happens to be the QFTD this week at SCS, so I found inspiration from Fran to get me started on my card for friends. I don’t seem to use blue as much as I would like, and for some reason, I felt the need to select some shades of blue for this floral work.
The flowers were stamped twice, allowing me to cut out 3 blossoms to layer for a 3-D look. This is actually enjoyable when the images are of a nice size for easier trimming. The petals have been “guided” a bit by subtle bending & shaping with a bone folder. I’ve added a close-up peek since that effect is sometimes lost in a front view.
The interior is finished with a simple stamped-off pale blue repeat of the main image, repeating the same paper layers from the front as well. The sympathy message was stamped atop the pale blue image. I had already written my personal message before I did the photography, so I’ve cropped the interior view. ***shaking my head***
Thanks so much for your visit today! I hope I’ve shared something to make you smile or to inspire your own creativity. Here’s to a sweet week for each of you!
