Best Friends * Hope You Can Cling To!

Published by at 12:01 am under SCS Challenges

Hi everyone!    Well, maybe this one should read, “Howdy, y’all!”

Have you noticed the cute new pink blinkie <<<over there .. in the left column of Savor the Journey?  Every year October brings World Card Making Day to those of us who enjoy/love/dabble in/tinker with/must have our rubber & ink & paper time on a more or less regular basis.  This year is no exception …. BUT ... SCS has given a brand new pink twist to this annual tradition.   For all of you challenge junkies, stampers in need of a cause, game players, and everyday stampin’ enthusiasts, SCS invites us one & all to play all throughout October with the “Hope You Can Cling To Challenges” !  (<<<linked for your convenience & welcome participation!)   We are all encouraged to donate our HYCCT creations to the UT MD Anderson Cancer Center for their patients to use!   What a fitting cause for October … our nation’s Breat Cancer Awareness month!  Check out the linked SCS post for more details and the mailing address for MD Anderson.

My card today is for the HYCCT02C challenge = Bring in the Brown.   As you might have noticed, I do use browns from time to time, but I don’t necessarily make a favorite habit of such.  So for this challenge, everything is in some form of brown.    And ..  wait a minute!  There’s actually a story for this one too.

Over the weekend, I traveled to Austin for a visit with a couple of very special friends.  Next day, I made a quick stop in Georgetown for a visit to a fabby stampin’ shoebox swap, featuring lots of awesome Texas stampers!   When I left, I headed towards home, but just “had” to stop in Salado, TX for the darling “Stamp Salado” store, plus lunch & shopping with my sweet friend, Joan Ervin.   Well, you know how it goes ….   Time passed, and I never made it on the road to the N. Texas area the rest of the day.  Ooooops!   That allowed Joan & I to chat forever and to spend some awesome farm fun visiting their horses, Sundance & Midnight … plus the cute but not-so-social donkeys sharing the huge pasture as well.  It’s been a few years since I’ve visited the farm in Oklahoma for some horse lovin’, so this was a most welcome visit.   I was so tickled that both Midnight and Sundance allowed me to get a close hug & nuzzle.  Midnight was so sweet that she followed me to the car for some last-minute sweetness.  Honestly … I’m still smiling on the “inside”.    Thank you Joan & hubby!     😉

Needless to say, Joan & I stayed up late stamping!  I was priviledged to browse through her incredible stamp collection, and when I spotted this stamp … I knew it was the one!   (Just too easy, huh?)    It’s the perfect summary for a perfect weekend with friends!  All inks, papers, ribbons, etc. are straight from the “Joan stash” … and it was a bit of a collaborative effort as well.   I’m feeling mighty blessed indeed.

Please feel welcome & encouraged to join in the Hope You Can Cling To Challenges over at Splitcoaststampers!  Thanks so much for stopping by today!
