Glazed in Black

Published by at 12:01 am under Rubbernecker,SCS Challenges

Happy almost-weekend everyone!   I think it’s time to move on to simpler colors … and maybe just a little bit of ‘drama’.   For me, the ‘drama’ comes in the richly embossed black … the major element of my card today.  This is all a result of this week’s Ways to Use It Challenge (WT310) over at SCS, which is to use a silhouette image and only black ink.

See?  It’s easy to move into ‘dramatic’ with that one, huh?

I know … I know.  Trust me … this is waaaaaaay more simple to execute that it appears.

I started with a neutral printed paper from the Paper Studio, trimmed to fit the layers, and stamped the Rubbernecker foliage image (Fall Triology Set)  3 times with black pigment ink.  Next comes the Ranger Clear Embossing Powder, and an easy emboss with the heat gun.   Finally, I used my old trusty Rubicoil to punch all the holes on the left side at one time.   No.  Do not  go purchase one for this.  Use another punch and spend the saved $$ on other crafty goodies.   Mine is simply a left-over from earlier “lemming” days.      😉

For the inside, I chose a somewhat similar creamy natural cardstock,  stamped my favorite bold birthday greeting (Birthday Wishes text) with black pigment ink, and repeated the clear embossing process.   Yes … I punched holes to coordinate more completely with the front.

The ribbon??  Well I scored that a few months ago when my sweet friend Joan & I shopped together in Salado, TX.   That’s quite some drive from here … and I cannot believe that my frugal voice shouted out and I purchased so little of this ribbon!   “Buyer’s regret” …. it’s right here in my studio.   Yes, you’re right.  It’s a great “reason” to visit Joan again, and return  to Salado …  but still, it’s the principle of it all!    😉

I won’t bore you with how beautiful it has been here for 3 whole days in a row … because next week will bring a change back to the more typical temps for February in N. TX.    Let’s just say that the Spring Fever is going to get to us if this keeps up.   There.   Lips are zipped on this thankful gal.

Thanks so much for popping by today!  I hope you found some inspiration and/or a smile to spur you forward.   I adore your comments, and I’m thankful that you shared a little moment of your day here.
