“Bleach It, or Not!”

Published by at 4:00 am under Outlines Rubber Stamps,Tex's Tips

It’s challenge time again, with Outlines Rubber Stamps!   This week, we’re challenged to “bleach it, or not“, named after the special collection of stamps by that name.   Check out the Outlines Blog to find out how you can play along toward winning a $25 certificate from Outlines!

Today I’ve used the Small Coneflower (F-195) stamp.   I love the way this stamp adds a perceived “texture” within the image itself.  The image was stamped atop pink cardstock with dark brown pigment ink, then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

Next, I poured a bit of bleach into a small lid and used a cotton swap as my “paint brush”.   Bleach was applied to the areas of the image that I wanted to color.   Tex’s Tips: Depending on your stamping surface, you may need to protect it beneath the image in the event that some bleach soaks through the image layer.  Second tip: Carefully using your heat tool can speed up the bleaching effects and dry the bleached area as well.  Once the bleached area was completely dry, I used soft Copic colors to enhance the image.  Give this technique a try!  You might find it fun to step away from your crafty ‘normal’.    😉

Ready for even more ideas to rev up some creative action?  How about visiting my design team colleagues to see what they’ve had up- their ‘krafty’ sleeves?   Jeanne Streiff, Jenny Gropp, Lisa Silver, Robin Kirkpatrick, Sandy Hulsart, & Vicki Garrett.   I know they’ll appreciate a little love.   This was  my final month with the Outlines Design Team, and this is my last project with the scheduled weekly blog challenges.   It has been an absolute pleasure to create with the beautiful Outlines rubber stamps.   I simply needed to open some time in my schedule, but I’ll always be a fan of these wonderful stamps and the crew at Outlines! (((hugs)))

Bev, this is adorable. I will certainly have to try this technique. You have inspired me. I also am taking a little leave from design teams in order to complete a project that I am working on. I could not find a place to follow you on this stunning blog. Am I doing something wrong? The 3D flowers in you other posts are gorgeous. Hugs
