‘Stampin’ Spaces’ Blog Hop with the Inky Antics Team!

Published by at 4:00 am under About,Blog Hop,Inky Antics

Hi everyone!   Welcome to the Inky “Stamping Spaces” Blog Hop! I’m tickled to see you and hope you’ll find a little inspiration along your way today!     Perhaps you’ve come from talented Trudy’s blog.  If not, just follow the links shared in each designer’s blog, and we’ll be sure to guide your way.   Each of us from the Inky Antics design team will be sharing peeks into our personal stampin’ spaces.   Believe it or not  …. I’m still trying to get comfy with this … so please be gentle with your comments!    😉

So, welcome to my studio! (All photos will enlarge when you click on them.)

When I’m sitting at my stampin’ table, this is my view.  Lots of natural light comes    in through this window, but because it faces West, I need to close the blinds during afternoons in Summer.

Why the front door?   My studio is attached to the garage and in that respect it is separate from my home.~

Here’s my view to the right, just  in front of my stampin’ table.   This is a very recent addition, courtesy of hubby and his woodworking talents.   The shelves are adjustable too!   The majority of my stamps are unmounted, and I store them in these binders by theme and by company brands.   Tex’s Tip: During concentrated production times, such as when working on a Dirty Dozen gallery, I often place probable/possible stamp choices in a plastic shoebox so I’m not opening binders multiple times.

Looking in from the front door, my stampin’ table is dividing the main room space from the “kitchen” space.  My every-time items such as markers, scissors, bone folders, & adhesives are just to my right side, though not seen in this particular photo.  This pic includes sweet friends, Joy Kennedy of Our Craft Lounge, and Daisy Sparks of Eclectic Paperie.  This is my standard setup for my own stamping time.

Whenever I teach classes, the setup changes to having 2, 6-ft. tables plus a 3-ft table at the end, creating a large rectangle of stampin space to accommodate 10 stampers.~

When you look past my stampin’ table,  this is directly behind me.    The countertops serve as my station for die cutting, heat embossing, dry pressure embossing.   Yeah … normally at least one or two necessary items are atop the counter, such as Big Shot and/or Cuttlebug.  Don’t let this picture fool ya!   I am actually more of an “explosion” stamper who must round up everything after 2 or 3 projects and put it all back in place!    LOL   The little white storage box in the corner holds embossing powders, while bottles of glitter actually perch along the top edge of the stove top.   Although the stove isn’t normally needed as a studio item, it does come in handy for holiday dinners while the turkey is hoarding the oven in the ‘real’ kitchen!   ha

I don’t know about you, but I require “light” when I stamp.  So, one of the very first changes I made to the main room upon moving here was to add more lights!   When you have a stampin’ room full of ladies for stampin’ classes, and the lights are on …. we can really “heat up” this place in a hurry!   haha

Here’s some of my ribbon storage.  I created this with foam board, elastic hair bands, and a readily available 3-drawer plastic organizer.   For shorter pieces … maybe 2 yards or so, I also use theSpool & Store” system, available at Inky Antics!  ~

~

Yayyy!   Earlier, I was unable to upload the next photo … it seemed that pesky “Murphy and his ‘law’ was messing around with me.  Well, now that I’ve given ‘Murphy’ the boot …. I can share this area to the left of my stampin’ table.

The tall 5-‘drawer’ organizer contains my 12×12 dsp’s, sorted basically by color or theme.   When I work on a particular theme of projects for the Dirty Dozen, I pull possible choices out and use a large craft keeper for those  themes until ready to put back into these lidded drawers.  Atop the dsp drawers are my ribbons – explained in a separate photo.

I wanted more display room for classes, so we made one from a sheet of galvanized metal.   It’s framed to match the doorways, and has fade-control light switches fromed in for managing the main room lighting.   (I typically use that only when a group or class is here.)

12 x 12 cardstocks are in the 8-pocket shelving, while magazines and other references are in the little bookcase.   Truthfully, there are even a couple or three children’s books in there, even though I try never to have littles out here for more than 2 minutes!   ha

The second area of my studio includes lots of storage for wood-mounted stamps, cardstocks, coloring mediums, inks & refills and my sewing machine as well.   The drawing of Disney’s Dopey up on top?  That was drawn & painted by my DD during her Senior year of high school.   I love it still.   Even though this pic is dated 2007, the room remains basically the same, except there are lots more ribbon jars across the top.  😉

Wow!   I hope you found something to spark some ideas for your own crafty space today!    ~
