These Leaves Don’t Crunch!

Published by at 9:36 am under SCS Challenges,Stampin' Up! Projects

Welcome, Fall & friends!

Here in the USA, we’ve ‘turned back time’ by one hour.  (Did you snag an extra hour of zzzzzzz’s?)

Traveling to & demoing at stampy conventions are now but a wonderful 2013 memory for me, as I settle in for the beginning of the holidays & all associated hustling & bustling.

And we still have one day left to share creations for the Hope You Can Cling To challenges at Splitcoaststampers!

This card is for Ardyth’s HYCCT1311 “Peace & Quiet” challenge to create a card without a sentiment.  That’s such an easy category for me, as I often create cards without a stamped sentiment, giving me the space to write whatever I feel on the inside at any time.

To create the multi-colored Fall leaves, I used the ‘direct to paper’ technique with my SU inks on watercolor paper.  Next, I used a spritzer to spritz water across the inked paper, and also used a watercolor brush as an ink guide to be sure white spots were covered with color.

Direct to paper again!  For the background, I added more texture with a Stampin’ Up! embossing folder, then opened up the same inks and started lightly smudging colors atop the raised areas of the design.

I think I like it, and I hope you do too!

It seemed like a perfect time to bust out my little hoarded stash of SU’s long-retired metallic cord for the bitty bow.

So remember, my stampy friends … If you have some creative time available, you can upload your projects to any of the Hope You Can Cling To challenges until 12:00 noon Central Time, November 7, to be eligible for our fabby prizes at Splitcoaststampers!  If you can’t make the prize upload deadline, you’re still very welcome to create cards and send them to the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, following the guidelines and address provided in our primary HYCCT post.   It’s a great outpouring of hope, love, & sharing for the patients undergoing cancer treatments!

Thanks ever so much, m’friends!!
