A Special Farewell – Paper Crafts Magazine

How do I start this blog post?  What shall I say?  Okay … here goes:

It’s my privilege to participate in an exceptional blog hop today …

… and it all started with a magazine.

If you’re a lover of cardstock, paper, ink, stamps of rubber or photopolymer, perhaps you’ve read one of the publications … or 63 … or more.  Paper crafters near and far are cyber-gathering today to bid fond farewells to a treasured source of inspiration … Paper Crafts + Scrapbooking Magazine.  Earlier, we knew it simply as Paper Crafts Magazine.

   Jessicas Cover (3) 525~

My subscription to Paper Crafts spanned several years.  Cabinets here in my studio easily testify to that.  Along the way I was thrilled to see my daughter, Jessica, become a Stampin’ Royalty winner.   Always being one to challenge herself, Jessica’s follow-up act was to became one of PC’s Go-To-Gals!

Throughout the years, Jessica and I rarely attended CHA at the same time, but I did manage to catch a few fun pics.  Hmmmm … I wonder if I actually squealed when I first hugged the original Ms. Moxie Fab, Cath Edvalson??  Her smile can light up the day!  The dynamic editorial staff at Paper Crafts holds a special place in my Texas heart for sure.  I feel blessed to have shared a wee bit of time with each of them along life’s way.

I’m pretty sure I did squeal the first time I hugged Teri Anderson for real.  LOL  To this day, she is a non-stop creative talent!

Needless to say, I truly owe my own paper crafting lifestyle to Jessica’s initial influence.  Our styles are completely different, but I remain her biggest fan.  And honestly, it’s the people I’ve met and hugged and shared time with throughout my own paper crafting journey that makes my heart smile time ‘n time again.

And so it is in honor of Paper Crafts + Scrapbooking Magazine, the consistent flow of creative inspiration, and the delightful peeps behind and in front of the scenes, that I share my personal “Thank you all, from the heart!”

I employed a little stretch here, and substituted splattered white acrylic paint for ink!   As you can see, Paper Crafts will always have a piece of my heart.

To everyone from Paper Crafts and Scrapbooking Magazine, thank you, thank you, thank you  … from the heart!

If you started your blog hopping experience at the very beginning, you’ve been a busy hopper!  In that event you’ve possibly arrived at my blog from Laurie Willison’s blog.  And now you’re invited to visit Nina Yang at her Waffle Flower blog!

It’s been my sincere pleasure to share with you all today!

Spreading the Thanks!

Can you feel it?

Thanksgiving is in the air!   Yes!!

Thanksgiving could very well be my favorite holiday.  It always evokes beautiful memories … and a couple or three “oopsies” as well.  (No more about those here!)  Plus, there isn’t that “rush/crush” of gift shopping & worrying that everything pleases recipients.  Plain & simply .. It’s family, sharing, being thankful, {{{hugs}}}, being with my children & my Grands, and also my son’s birthday every few years.  Yes!  I became a ‘Mom’ on a Thanksgiving morning, some time ago.

This month, the SCS Dirty Dozen’s Central Theme is “Warm & Welcoming“.   This year has been quite rewarding for me, and I find myself creating & sending thank you cards each month.  But this year, I’m considering the idea of “spreading the thanks”!   Essentially, I plan to create several sets of thank you cards to give as gifts.  So here goes with my first set created with “spreading the thanks” in mind!

Don’t recognize the stamp?  It’s from the newest photopolymer set by Stampin’ Up!, “Banner Blessings“!

The first two cards in my set are heat embossed in Crushed Curry embossing powder.  I adore the way the stamps’ font reminds me of embroidery stitching!  IMO, it adds a special charm to this set.

Naturally we include envelopes when gifting card sets, and they’re typically all white or vanilla.  Not this time!  I rarely find myself combining vanilla and white envelopes within a set … but here’s an exception.   ;)

I have to say … the “Color Me Autumn” designer series paper (12″x12″) is one of my favorite collections for this year.  Rich colors, wonderful coordination with the For All Things stamp set, and very easy to use as it seems to get the creative ideas flowing.

The weekend is here!  I’m thankful for the rain falling here in my little area of Texas today.   However, it’s a cold rain, so I’m staying inside instead of wishing to be inside.  Thanks for your visit today!

Warm & Inky {{{huggss}}}!

Nuggets, Gifting, & ‘How To’!

Hey there, m’friends!

I’m back again with another quick & easy gifting idea … and … another video tutorial to share!

Now this gifty happens to be “sweet”.   And believe it or not …. ZERO Hershey’s Nuggets were injured, maimed, bitten or eaten during the production or preparation of the following projects or video!   From Millan.Net Yep! I speak the truth.

These little gifties are easy-peasy … and a basket full can be created in a very short time.  Vary the number of nuggets, change the colors or the season, get natural with twine or all prettied up with beautiful ribbons!

Whatever you do, have fun!  Turn on some Christmas music, sip some hot spiced cider, and bring out those Christmas papers & ribbons!

This weekend’s Christmas Card Buffet kept me busy & happy until evening yesterday … when I discovered this monthly box of creativity in my mailbox.  I already had an idea of the contents, since those who received this box-of-fun a day or two before I did were more than delighted to share pics.  I was planning to prepare a video today, but …. Stampin’ Up! has already produced a fabby video sharing the fun of this latest arrival!  So, I’m here to share the video with all of you!

Let’s Make Gift Card Envies!

Hey, hey, Stampy Friends!

Mr. Weatherman is convinced that the “polar vortex” is pouring itself across the USA early this week, from North to South.  NOT a snow bunny here … I’ll plan on stampin’, hot cider, and/or hazelnut coffee while I attempt to be outside just as little as possible.

In that case, here’s an idea that you might add to your stampin’ time during cozy creative times ahead!

Don’t think for even a minute that I’m already decorating for Christmas just yet.  Not at all.  But as many stampers & crafters have been doing, “creating” for Christmas is in full swing here.

Yeah …. once I got started, then the ideas started rushing out!  My favorite is the “WIN” style.  Can you guess how I’ll be using those?

Imagine various Christmas papers used for each of at least 4 of these on my tree at Christmas … one for each of my two children and their spouses.  No names … just “WIN”.   They’ll each choose their own gift envelope.

Inside?    Did you guess??

Lottery tickets!

Here’s how you can make your own personalized gift card treats in time for Christmas!  Enjoy!

I hope you’ll enjoy creating with the oh-so-easy Gift Card Envelope & Trims Dies!
