Relocating … Hot, Hot, Hot!

Yes, just as the name ‘Texas Rubber and Ink!‘ implies … I’m in Texas.
And Summer has definitely arrived.

For those who might not have been here before (or yet), during a typical Texas Summer, you can expect humidity by the buckets full, and heat that causes thermometers to climb toward the top of the tube. I liken it to Florida … minus the persistant rain showers.

I’ve been working at a feverish stampin’ pace in an effort to get swaps created for the annual July crush of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators spilling out of Salt Lake City’s hotels like happy little trick-or-treaters being let loose on all neighborhoods at once!

Mass Production … in a tidied up photo op
Well … it’s all relocated nowOUT of the studio.  …sigh…
I’ve made countless trips in and out to get supplies, then get forgotten supplies, sit down in the house – only to realize that I need to make another trip to the studio.  (Yay!  Steps count on the FitBit!!)
This is what happens when your air conditioner dies a quick but miserable death in the heart of a Texas Summer.
From Millan.Net
Lucky am I that the A/C works fine in the house.  But the estimated replacement of the air handler portion in the studio attic would pay for about 2 trips to convention with expenses included such as air fare, hotel, + food.

Hmmmmmmm . Looks like I’ve got my next year’s work “cut out for me” now!   Yeeeeeeeeeeeeehawwwwwwwwwwwww!! I’m headed to the right place to keep the happy mojo in motion!  (And the new A/C will be installed next week.  Whew!!)

Just let me know if you’d like to join the delightful Texas Rubber and Ink team!  Contact me any time, and I’ll save a spot just for you!

Uh-ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

It seems that practically as soon as I posted here yesterday … my day was no longer in ‘my control’.

My phone was (1) either ringing or (2) receiving texts at a near-record pace for a supposedly “quiet” Sunday afternoon.  If I wasn’t talking to callers, I was replying to texts.  I even had to ask one speedy-texter to please wait until I finished up a call!

When it rains … it pours.   But it was actually a dry day here in N. Texas. ;)

Then I received a notice that friends would be stopping in for a little break on their drive North from the southernmost area of Texas.

… …Wait just a dog-gone minute … …

So now add in a dust cloth and a quick broom to the aforementioned rash of activity … pronto!

But don’t forget dinner either.   That was settled with a brief trip about 1.5 miles down the road.  Whew!

So …

Guess what’s on my agenda for today????

Looks eerily familar doesn’t it?

And oh yes …. The answer to yesterday’s question was/is:
#4!

  • Picture me at the Big Shot, cutting out all of the above … plus more elements to cut as well.
  • Yes, my friends, THIS is what convention swapping does to otherwise-basically-rational people!

Happy New Week to You!

Oh …. if you’re working on swaps too, just bring’em over & we’ll have a swappin’ assembly day!   ;)

Colors, Colors! Your Favorite Color?

Now that everyone has settled in with their lovely new SU cattys-in-hand, let’s get back into some new stampin’ fun!

The Creative Crew was challenged with:  CCREW0614DF DSP/Color Focus: Show us your favorite color. Try it in a color combo you haven’t used before!

Color challenges can be lots of fun … especially when you have to ‘stretch’ a little to make your natural choices blend in with the guidelines!  If you haven’t given one a try, then this one would be a perfect start!

I’ve always been a pinks, purply & some greens kinda girl.   So when I first heard just the ‘name’ of the new In Color, ‘Blackberry Bliss’ ….. I already knew that it was for me.  A done deal for sure.  Then I saw it IRL (in real life) and practically squealed out loud!

Oh yes … back to the challenge:
Yep!  My starting point was with a brand new awesome sheet of Blackberry Bliss C/S in hand.  Then I browsed through my hanging files of all other SU cardstocks, picking one up & putting it back, until it was right in front of me …. Soft Sky!  I loved it at first sight.
~
My large scalloped border die was still on my table, and I wondered if I could work that into the card … and it wasn’t long before I could see it all in my mind and simply had to finish it up!  One bitty rhinestone dots the ‘i’ in ‘friend’ for a bit of glam to add to the wonderful sheen & subtle sparkle of the Shimmery White cardstock.
~
I hope you like it!
