CHA SuzeW prodctbds 300×358Background… I was mesmerized by Suze Weinberg’s demonstrations at Chicago’s CHA this past July.  I ‘tried‘ to walk past her area of the ginormous Ranger booth … but my efforts to ‘walk on by’ were often failures.   ***sigh***  I almost decided that I wanted to dye my brunette hair to her shade of ‘burgundy’  …. but I haven’t been able to make that leap just yet.  DH does not realize how close I have come to doing just that!   shhhhh!    However, I did get to watch her demonstrate the ‘Melting Pot’, along with her ‘Melt Art UTEE Brightz’ embossing powders.  I was “stuck” there .. literally stuck

RN Pumpkin pin onshrt 285×349The result was that I have fallen in love with my Melting Pot,  the Melting Pot Accessories, and the UTEE Brights Embossing Powders.   After all of that time … watching, commenting, watching more, stepping aside for newcomers … watching, asking … you get the idea …I did happily receive one of her melt art projects!    ~Yeeeehaaaaaaaaw!!!

I melted “Tiger Lily UTEE Brightz” plus “Sunflower UTEE Brightz” in my melting pot.  (It’s truly  tooo easy!)  When it was melted, I used tweezers to dunk a chipboard circle into the molten EP liquid.  After retreiving the coated chipboard circle, I turned it out onto a  Ranger Craft Sheet, and quickly stamped the Little Lovin’s Pumpkin stamp directly into the melted UTEE on the coated chipboard circle.  Now the truth is, the first one wasn’t centered correctly … sadly … a dud.   Not a problem!  It is so easy to just dunk it back onto the melting plate, let it become liquid again, and start over.  Voila!  After two attempts, I had it centered to my acceptance, stamped the image as desired, and let it dry atop my Ranger Craft Sheet (This sheet is amust’ whenever you’re using Melt Art, or soldering tools, or other heated art media.)

I highlighted the stamped lines with Copic Markers, and filled in the eyes & mouth with Stickles Icicle glitter.  The Copics markers color the stamped lines very easily with the brush tip.  The finishing touches were the addition of ribbon leaves & stems in a “corsage” arrangement, as well as a Tim Holtz pin bale attached to the back with E6000 craft glue.

Smiley from millan.net  Time to set your sails in search of more inspiration and another chance to win some blog candy!

Your challenge?  Please feel free to experiment with your “Melting Pot” and UTEE!   I would love to see what you create.   And  yes .. be sure to comment below with your wishes for techniques and/or tutorials that you might enjoy seeing.  I want to know what it is that you want to know!   *   Thank you for your visit today!    Aye, Aye!

Bev, thanks for showing us your project with the melting pot. There was so much to see at CHA that I didn’t take time to watch the demo. I am glad you did!

My favorite technique that I have been learning is using a brayer to create awesome backgrounds. This has saved me a lot of money on DP and it looks amazing!

  9. Great idea for a pin Bev!! And I have to say, your pirate-speak had me rollin this morning!! I LOVE talking like a pirate! I’d love to see you do a tutorial on that technique you used to alter the Halloween tin a while back. The one that used the alcohol inks – it was a fabulous look and I’d love to recreate it!

    COOL!!! What a fun pin!!

  11. so cute!
gosh, I think that I would like to try watercoloring with re-inkers. I tend to just use my blender pen or brush with the ink from the pad, but the colors are so vibrant using the refills. Can I ever get out of the ‘hoarding’ mode?! 😉

  12. my son giggled when I read to him what the kitty was saying (he asked why I was giggling) OH and I love that effect.. I actually was doing Faux Metal this AM and then I see your creation 🙂 For me my tech that I am looking for is how to create different size boxes.. that way I can dress them up with my stamped images and be able to add pretty cards inside I wish I could figure out how to do more then just the reg. 4×4, 3×3 boxes… sigh… hmm is that even a tech?? lol.. Well any hoot… TRICK OR TREAT TO YOU!!!

  13. Joan Ervin says:

  14. Diane Loy says:

I want to learn to do watercoloring that looks real nice, like other peoples do when they do it. I keep trying – maybe someday. I also want to learn to make scenes like Kittie – hers always look so fantastic.

  15. Michelle Adams says:

I want to master my brayering technique, and also my watercoloring. I am kinda stuck on a couple of techniques (embossing resist and paper piecing), so I need to branch out a little bit. Thanks so much for the chance!!!

Hi Bev! Great job on your UTEE project. It looks like fun to work with. I’d like to try and master the ‘masking’ technique.
