‘Divas Never Have Bad Hair Days’ * Wacky Wednesday #10

RN Divas Bad Hair toppr 475×340

Did you know that?!  ‘Divas never have bad hair days.  That’s what hats are for!’ haha  … I just adore that sentiment.   It brings a smile to my face, even though I only own about 3 hats that are ‘not’ baseball caps.  Truth is, my short hair is not meant for hats … enough said there.

The talented Shelly Kuck is this week’s Wacky Wednesday Challenge hostess at the Rubbernecker Blog.  I truly adore her fabulous & unique collage style.  It doesn’t matter what your style is, because Shelly has challenged us to use our own favorite technique for this weeks WW10 challenge!  I have more than one favorite, but right at the top of my list is ‘Paper-Piecing’.   So, “Paper-Piecing” it is for my WW10 creation.

RN Divas bad hair frnt 475×480For the paper-piecing, I stamped the ‘Belle’ stamp 3 times … once on Prism White, once on the patterned page of Basic Grey, and once more on a solid page of Basic Grey, both from the Two Scoops pad.  After carefully trimming all patterned pieces, I colored in the skin, hair, and shoes on the Belle stamped on Prism White.

Normally, this is the point at which you would adhere the pieces.  However, I added some Shimmerz paint to the 2 scarf elements, and allowed them to quicky dry.  Because I nearly always stamp beneath a ceiling fan, the drying process went quickly.  Tex’s Tip: When paper-piecing, I use liquid glue, trying to cover to all edges without a lot of excess.  A very thin layer is adequate.  Ooozing will need to be rubbed away when nearly dry.   I prefer to use my gelatin-like adhesive remover square.

I used this week’s SCS Sketch Challenge, SC227 for the layout.  The original sketch used a bit slimmer main image, but I really liked the sketch and decided to see if I could make it work for this “Belle” stamp.  The overall card size is 5.75″ square.  I hope you enjoy!  Although I’ve presented Paper-Piecing today, you’ll find a great variety of fav techniques from the rest of the Red Hot Mama’s of Rubbernecer for your creative pleasure!  Here are their blogs just in case you have some time to explore!  Please be sure to link your WW10 creations back at the Rubbernecker Blog for your chance to win a great discount coupon on your Rubbernecker purchase!  Best Wishes to each of you!
