Choco Butterfly Thanks! * World Card Making Day

Crafty bfly thnks WCMD tppr 575×209

Hi everyone!  I hope you enjoyed a wonderful weekend with family and/or friends, and/or doing something that you love!   I was blessed to share the weekend with my first grandson … and when I have ‘Mimi’ time, little else is important.   😉   So it was later on Sunday that I explored the great World Card Making Day challenges available at SCS.  Even so, I managed to combine two of the great challenges to create the following card.

Crafty bfly thx frnt 523×525

I adore my ‘Earthy’ paper pad from Crafty Secrets, and their challenge was to create something with dimension, plus let it ‘pop’.   The SCS challenge for WMCD is a ‘sketch’ challenge from Beate.  So, I’ve combined the two to create this thank you card.  I hope I’ve achieved the pop, and I thoroughly enjoyed the SCS sketch!

The butterflies are all cut from the Crafty Secrets “Earthy” paper pad .. not stamped!  After cutting, I painted them with Distress Crackle Paint, and set them under my always-on ceiling fan to ‘enable’ the drying time.  While the butterflies were drying, I developed the rest of the card from the SCS sketch.   Tex’s Tip:  The piercing?  It’s courtesy of a piercing template … just takes a few minutes and the results are worth it, IMO.  The sentiment is one of my fav sets from Gina K. Designs.  Simple piercing was added to the scallops around it.  All bling was actually clear rhinestones, colored with a Y38 Copic Marker, and adhered with Glossy Accents.

I’m so glad that you’ve visited today!  In the words of my card today, ‘I’m so thankful for you!’

Bev, this is absolutely FANTASTIC….I love the idea of cutting out the butterflys and covering them with the paint…and I totally agree with you on the piercing template….I’ve been wanting to purchase one, but right now I only have a couple of simple border templates. This is a beautiful card and I love the Crafty Secrets paper, I think I have that pad in my stash, somewhere…..off to see if I can find it, LOL.
