My first entry paired two challenges together, the DTGD10kittie747 challenge and the DTGD10AmberDawn01 challenge.  Check out all of the DTGD Challenges, join the Fan Club, and play along all week!

I’ve created a ‘memory jar’ based on one of my favorite California-cousin visits a few years ago.  Denise & her hubby & I had the bestest time, taking some long drives & over-nighters along the California coast.  I will cherish that trip forever!   When we visited San Luis Obispo, we spotted this seagull ‘posing’ on one of the posts of a pier.  Honestly, that seagull was so patient while we both scooped up our cameras and tried for a great photo.   Once we were done, guess what he did. … Indeed, he flew farther down the pier, just to avoid further photo ops with the pesky humans.

Now in all honesty, this sand did not travel home with me from the Pacific.  It’s cleaned sand that I purchased a long time ago at the craft store.  The jumbo rick-rack around the lower part of the jar was originally white, until I misted it with Distress Inks color.     Tex’s Tip:  It’s easy to make your own sprayable colors.  Just fill a Mini-mister about 3/4 full of plain water.  Then add 2 drops of reinker & shake.  Test this color, and if you would like a deeper tint, progress drop-by-drop.  Remember, we’re just using a little mister with a small amount of water.  Then spray your intended item, and allow to dry, or blow it dry with your heat tool if the item can be heated.

The satin ribbon on the rim was not changed, except to add a swirly shell and a computer-generated strip of cardstock to identify this as from my Pacific vacation.  I did use the same mini-mister of Distress Ink – Stormy Sky & water to cause the “Pacific” strip to blend visually into the ribbon.

I hope you’ll be inspired to create your own memory-keeper at some point.  I’d be very pleased to see your creations if you would link them here!

Thanks so much for your visit!  Please come back & visit again!
