Winter’s Forest

Published by at 9:53 pm under Ranger Art,Rubbernecker

At last, there’s time to create & share again!  The beautiful Christmas week is a part of our memories now, and the wrappings are all put away for several months of quiet rest in the closets.  Time to download & sort pictures, and savor the smiles that are tucked inside my heart.

My sweet friend, Kittie Caracciolo, is such a master at creating scenes with her stamping & watercoloring talents.   While I can’t even envision those detailed scenes, I was thinking about her overall beautiful wintery style that shows off her work when I stumbled upon this evergreen stamp and decided to ink it up.   I’ve recently dabbled a teeny bit with my brayer, and started working a sky & background with various blues.

The tree was stamped 3 times at various heights with a deep green ink, followed by a nice misting of pearly shimmer made by combining Perfect Pearls with water in a mini-mister.  (I just adore the shimmer!)   Of course, for a wintery forest, there must be snow …. so I generously applied 2-way glue before heaping on white glitter.  In real life, the snow appears to have dimension, although that seemed to be lost along with the scant random little pearls in my photo.   Click the photo to enlarge if you like.  I was so tickled to have some sunlight to take a picture in natural light, that I just had to do it!  Now “willing” that card to stay still on my prop in the breezy breeze was another story!     As it turns out, it’s a good thing I took advantage of the daylight yesterday, because today was rainy, gloomy, c-c-cold, wet …. all-around yucky outside.

To my Northern & Northeastern friends who are recovering from record snowfalls, here’s wishing you warmth & safety, and a speedy return to normalcy.

Pssssssst!  I’ll also be sharing some new goodies with you during the coming new year … …  but will share more on that in the next week or so.    😉     In the meantime, the clocks & calendars are swiftly moving toward the final days & hours of 2010.   Whether it was a good one for you, or a less-than-wonderful series of months, let’s savor the quickly slipping days and dream of good things to come!   Thank you for your presence in my cyber-world this past year!

  7. Bev, this is a gorgeous work of art. I love every detail especially the shimmer and the tiny pearls. You have given wonderful directions on how you created this beauty. I wish I could see it in real life as I’m sure there is so much more depth with the white glitter. Thanks for linking my blog. Hugs and Happy New Year’s Eve!
