Picked Posy on Stripes!

You know it’s Monday when the Outlines team is sharing a new design challenge!  This week we were asked to include stripes in our creation … no restrictions on how to implement stripes,  just include the stripes!

Now I could have stamped atop the striped KaiserCraft paper, but the stripes wouldn’t be going in the proper direction on all petals.  So I chose the next best option …. use that pretty paper as a background.

Can you tell?   Spring is on my mind in a big way, even though it isn’t actually ‘here’ yet.  When I pulled this striped paper from the KaiserCraft 6×6 Lilac Avenue pad, then found yellow and green/purple coodinates, my color scheme was set … oh so easy!

Time to “make the donuts” … er, uh … card!   I used 3 sizes of the Plain Petals series, G-660 Plain Petals XL, E-682 Plain Petals Lg, D-683 Plain Petals Med., and the E-1046 Posy Leaf.  Now it might not be seen at first glance, but all petals and leaves were stamped directly atop the designer papers with black pigment ink, then embossed with clear embossing powder.   That’s right!  There’s no white cardstock on the front of this card.  I used my Copic markers to color all flower petals, and to highlight the leaves.   The glittery flower center is compliments of Glitter Diva Gold.  IRL, you can more easily spot the subtle paper pattern within the yellow portion of the petals.  I do like that little hidden ‘surprise’.  (You can click to enlarge the left-side photo for a closer look.)  Total size of the card is 5″ square.

I hope you like this one!   My Outlines DT colleagues also have their own special versions of the stripes challenge on their blogs for you today, so please feel welcome to hop on by and leave them a little love as well:    Jeanne Streiff, Jenny Gropp, Lisa Silver, Robin Kirkpatrick, Sandy Hulsart, & Vicki Garrett.     Here’s to a sweet week everyone!
