Hi there, stampy friends!    Have you been checking out the daily Hope You Can Cling To challenges at Splitcoaststampers?!  Just in case you’re new to our annual card drive for cancer patients at UT  M D Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, please consider this to be your personal invitation to join right in!  You can check out the complete details >>> right here.

It’s my honor to host today’s challenge, Pocket Full of Hope ….  HYCCT1316 (keyword for gallery uploads).

Act 1: The first inspiration for my topic “Pocketful of Hope”, came from the lyrics of an oldie goldie song with a somewhat uplifting message of its own:

Catch a falling star an’ put it in your pocket
Never let it fade away
Catch a falling star an’ put it in your pocket
Save it for a rainy day … …
~

Act 2: Reality. Life is very short. Just in the time since I first named my challenge, I have attended the funeral of a dear friend’s beautiful & bright 21-year old daughter, who battled fiercely with leukemia. Ashley’s battle lasted only 10 days in a Dallas-area hospital. Then suddenly, her journey here with us had ended, and she left for her Heavenly home.   At Ashley’s funeral, Sept. 28, we each pinned an orange ribbon to our blouse or jacket. And that has brought about a wee change to my challenge.

Pocket Full of Hope challenge :

Create a pocket card, or a card with a pocket on it.
Bonus 1: To fill the pocket with hope, add a star or stars OR a heart or hearts.
Bonus 2: Make it orange (leukemia) or pink (breast cancer and our traditional color for HYCCT).

The big blossom was cut by using a Sizzix die and my trusty Big Shot.  I used heavyweight SEI papers for the pocket and the blossom, while the insert is of SU’s Tangerine Tango cardstock.  The top border was created with SU’s Edgelits Large Scallop … so easy!
~
If you haven’t made a pocket card in a while, or even ever … this one is super easy, since there’s no flap.  I simply chose to eliminate the flap and use decorative bordering instead.    😉

Please consider joining the HYCCT challenges, and share the love for a wonderful cause!   Thanks ever so much for your visit here with me today.
